Jell-O® Eggs
Prep Time240 Minutes
Servings12
0Ingredients
3 oz Jell-O® packets in various colors and flavors
boiling water
coconut milk (optional)
Directions
- Taking the top half of one plastic egg, drill a 3/16” hole in the center of the top of the egg. Drill another hole to the side. This will help the air vent out while adding the liquid gelatin. Repeat with remaining plastic eggs. Thoroughly wash the inside and outside of the plastic eggs. Let air-dry completely, or dry with a towel before proceeding to Step 1. If the eggs have a hole in the bottom, seal the hole with tape on the outside.
- Once all of the eggs are fully dried, open and spray the insides lightly with cooking spray. This will help the gelatin eggs release. Close the eggs after they are sprayed. Place in egg holder, drilled hole-side up.
- Add 1 1/4 cups of boiling water to 3 ounces of Jell-O® mix (any color) in a bowl. Whisk for 3 minutes until completely dissolved.
- Carefully pour mixed Jell-O® into a squeeze bottle, or use a food-safe syringe to fill plastic eggs 1/3 of the way. Refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes, watching them closely. If the gelatin sets completely, the layers will not stick to each other.
- Continue the steps for as many layers as desired. The rest of the flavors should remain in a liquid state at room temperature in the bowls until ready to fill the plastic eggs.
- If they start to set, heat the bowl in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. Refrigerate the filled eggs for 3 hours or overnight.
- Holding your fingers over the holes, run an egg under warm running water for 10 to 15 seconds. Press the seams of the egg to loosen. Slowly open the egg, and gently tilt the Jell-O® egg out into a bowl. It might bounce. Repeat with remaining eggs.
TIP: To make the eggs more opaque, add warm coconut milk to the already well-whisked Jell-O® mixture.
